The Destination

The Blue Mountains — A World Heritage Wilderness

There is a reason the Blue Mountains have drawn travellers for over a century. Rising dramatically from the coastal plain just ninety minutes west of Sydney, this World Heritage-listed landscape offers a rare combination of ancient eucalyptus forests, plunging sandstone valleys, and mountain villages that feel a world away from the city below.

Leura sits at the heart of it all — a picture-perfect village where tree-lined streets give way to spectacular lookouts and hidden walking trails. The air here is different: cool, clean, and scented with eucalyptus. In autumn, the gardens blaze with golden and crimson leaves. In winter, log fires crackle in cosy cafes and mist drifts through the valleys at dawn.

Whether you come to hike the Grand Canyon Track, gaze at the Three Sisters, ride the world's steepest railway at Scenic World, or simply sit in a garden with a cup of tea and a good book, the Blue Mountains have a way of slowing time and restoring the soul.
